PHOTOS: Kate Wears McQueen For First-Ever Red Carpet Appearance
The royal couple’s trip to the States may be brief (they’re leaving today…sad face), but they’re certainly making the most of it. Last night the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge rubbed shoulders with members of the Hollywood elite at the glamourous BAFTA “Brits to Watch” gala in Los Angeles.
The event spotlighted British show biz up-and-comers, and was presided over by BAFTA president Prince William. Will wore a tux, and Kate wore a lilac Alexander McQueen gown. Belted around the middle, the dress moved in the loveliest of fashions and (like most things) was super flattering on Duchess Catherine. She wore earrings borrowed from the Queen, and accessorized with a Jimmy Choo clutch and heels. We had a feeling she might wear McQueen to this shindig after she was spotted at the brand’s corporate offices in London last month; she also wore McQueen in Canada.
Earlier in the day, the pair attended (and Will played in) a charity polo match at the Santa Barbara Racquet and Polo Club. Just so you know, Kate wore a hand-painted Jenny Packham dress and her signature LK Bennett wedges. (On her first day in California, she wore Roksanda Ilincic and Diane von Furstenberg.)
The artist formerly known as Kate Middleton wasn’t the only one who donned fancy duds for the BAFTA event though. Blake Lively, Nicole Kidman, and Jennifer Lopez were just a few of the stars who walked the red carpet, along with Jennifer Garner, Zooey Deschanel, and more. What did they wear?
