Bar Refaeli Did Not Tweet About ‘Hungry’ Models (UPDATED)
UPDATE: One Model Management, Refaeli’s agency, told the Huffington Post that neither the Twitter account nor Blog belonged to Refaeli and that the statements were “made by imposters.”
Bar Refaeli is the latest model to speak out about what we like to call The Great Weight Debate — though instead of penning an essay or hosting a panel, she took to Twitter.
Though the account has since been protected, the tweets came from IAmBarRefaeli — which, though not verified, features a large photo of Refaeli and links to what appears to be her official blog.
According to Hollywood Life, Refaeli tweeted Monday:
I get so sad when I see 15-year-old pale extremely skinny models at the agency looking all shaky and hungry…. when will it end?!?!?
And over the weekend, she wrote:
Seriously… Plastic surgery is not helping your impact on young women or your looks!
Some people are addicted to drugs and others addicted to alcohol. Me? I’m addicted to pomegranate juice.
It’s interesting that the account has been protected, considering Refaeli’s thoughts were picked up first by Hollywood Life, then StyleList, then HuffPost Style — as well as a myriad of other sites.
Though Refaeli clearly meant well — and certainly has a point — describing 15-year-olds as looking “shaky and hungry” without actually knowing if they’re shaky and hungry isn’t necessarily the best tactic.
