TIME WARP: ’60s Barbie Fashion Was The Best

Chris Benz‘s new “I Can Be President” Barbie is great, but it still doesn’t hold a candle to the old school dolls from the ’60s.

Today we unearthed a Barbie commercial that shows off a bunch of her fancy outfits from 50 years ago. In the clip below, two cute girls walk into a faux boutique and ask to see the newest Barrrrrrbie clothes. The saleswoman gladly shows off the doll’s duds, and points out that Mattel added a full lining to one of Barbie’s jackets.

Also, the last line is classic: ”You can tell they’re Mattel, they’re swell!”
