If there was one celebrity who really aced the sartorial scene-setting at BCBGMAXAZRIA this morning, it was Olivia Palermo. Granted everyone in a five mile radius of her should automatically be granted a style handicap, but in loosely tailored whites she was a corporeal premonition of Max Azria’s cool, crisp runway.
For his Spring 2014 collection, the designer punctuated a school of neutrals with powder blue chambray, delicate prints and a shot of testosterone. The play on masculine and feminine is an old game, but Azria made it interesting with textural embroidered fabrics and confidently structured separates. One of our highlights was the crop top that definitely shared some DNA with Emma Watson’s.
Our favorite audience trend was quirkily-accented headgear. Usually it sucks being style-trumped by a kid, but if the kid is June Ambrose’s daughter, we’re almost okay with it.
