PHOTOS: The 7 Best Dressed Stars At The Critics’ Choice Awards
What’s black, white, and red all over? This best dressed list, that’s what!
Usually we are all for a rainbow on the red carpet — give us vivid brights over a sea of monochrome any day — but tonight’s Critics’ Choice Awards proved to be an exception. Nearly all of our favorite looks from the night were either black or white, but, of course, not one of them was boring.
Jennifer Lawrence‘s knockout Prabal Gurung is a no-brainer pick for the best of the night. Not only did the actress clean up on stage for both Silver Linings Playbook and The Hunger Games, she also stole the show in front of the cameras in a black gown from the designer’s pre-fall collection with a leather yoke, cutout neckline, waist-cinching belt, and flowing train. Even if this one wasn’t quite as daring as the gold foil Gurung she wore last March, there’s no denying this girl is on fire.
Jaime King channeled Jerry Hall in a strappy black Jason Wu gown and side-swept platinum waves. She looked so good that we’re pretty sure even the original Studio 54 crew would have been jealous. Marion Cotillard, meanwhile, pulled off a heavily embellished Zuhair Murad couture dress, toning down the beading with beige accessories and a sleek ‘do.
Clea DuVall went the edgy angelic route in cut out Tadashi Shoji, while Helen Hunt repped one of the few well-executed brights: a tomato red gown by designer Philip Armstrong. And last but certainly not least, we have our new favorite nine-year-old Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis. We may have yet to master the pronunciation of her name, but we know a good party dress when we see one.
