Bjork Wrote A Poem For Alexander McQueen

Bjork and Alexander McQueen weren’t only friends, they were collaborators. McQueen’s design aesthetic suited Bjork’s out-there personality and stage presence, and the two worked together on several projects including her videos and album covers. This week, Bjork took to the online pages of GQ to share her thoughts on McQueen and where the two of them met.

An excerpt:

Even though we have our neighborhoods fading with pollution, we still have the energy of this solar system driving us through with more explosive power, fuel and potential than there ever was… it’s all there for you and Lee knew that.

Lee managed to connect not only with the civilized part of his culture but somehow channel beyond that a more primordial energy, which is probably where me and him met.

Bjork also penned a poem for him on her personal website.

dear lee

i can´t stop thinking how both fierce and feeble you are
it is difficult to grasp this
my condolences go out to your family and friends and all your team
who must be all trying to fathom this
i would like to thank you for all your inspiration
it was so important to me to get to work with you and your team
a real mashup of fertile minds
it was vital to my development
i´m grateful
and all the warmth all around you and your mom
