PHOTOS: Black Swan Gets Amazing Retro Poster Makeover

Black Swan is undoubtedly one of this year’s most fashionable films. (Rodarte! Rodarte! So much Rodarte!) And while the film’s original poster is pretty stylish, British design studio LaBoca just released a new set of posters that are total knockouts.

The original (and now ubiquitous) poster for the film features Natalie Portman as the black swan, her crown slightly askew and her face in odd focus. The international version shows Natalie as the white swan with an ominous crack down the side of her face. The LaBoca posters do away with photographs entirely, relying purely on retro-inspired graphic design.

Art director Scot Bendall explains: “[The concept] was to create artwork that conveyed the feeling of the movie in much the same way that Polish and Czech film posters did so well in the ’60s and ’70s. [Each poster] aims to convey the grace and fragility of the White Swan in contrast to the aggression and power of the Black Swan.”

Check out the posters below. Do you prefer the original ones or the LaBoca designs?
