Bruce Weber Has Plans For More Gay Kisses In Abercrombie Ads
Abercrombie caused a bit of a stir back in March when a very suggestive campaign video was released by their go-to photographer Bruce Weber, featuring, among other things, a dude-on-dude shower kiss.
Not that the clip was uncharacteristic for the brand (hardly!) but it did take the homoeroticism of past advertisements just a smidge further. Fashionista caught up with Weber at his book party during Art Basel Miami, however, and the lensman shrugged off the suggestion that the video was particularly groundbreaking:
“I guess i just didn’t think it was that big of a deal. You know, I feel like men kiss each other all the time. It doesn’t have to be in a sexual context — there are all kinds of contexts where men can be physically close or intimate without it necessarily meaning that. Athletes kiss each other after games. It doesn’t have to be a sexual thing.”
And as for whether there will be more where that came from, Weber is optimistic: “In my work? Sure! I photograph men kissing all the time. I don’t see any reason why not!” Neither do we, Bruce. Neither do we.
