Candice Swanepoel Says Her Weight Is ‘Normal’
Supermodel Candice Swanepoel has been fielding questions about her weight since this Wednesday, when she showed up with Alessandra Ambrosio (left) and Adriana Lima (right) to a Victoria’s Secret swimwear event looking noticeably thinner than she has in the past. Of course Swanepoel has always been slender, so to see her looking even skinnier than usual set many tongues wagging and many bloggers blogging. But Swanepoel insists she’s just fine.
The South African beauty issued a statement through her publicist to The New York Daily News saying there’s absolutely nothing to worry about:
“I am healthy and happy,” Swanepoel told the Daily News through her rep. “I’m heartened to know how much everyone cares about me, but in this case everything is normal and good.”
While we’re glad to know that Swanepoel is doing so well, we’d argue that not everything is normal. Maybe being this thin is for her, but normal is a very relative thing — which is why so many people get so concered when people like Swanepoel look thinner than they normally are. But even at her other apparently greater weight, Swanepoel was still a lot more slender than the vast majority of women. So what’s normal?
In any case, Swanepoel told Hollyscoop that she got thinner because she works out a lot.
“I work out a lot. I box. I’m obsessed with it. It helps a lot with traveling, you know, to be strong and carry on with everything.”
If Swanepoel is as healthy and happy as she says she is, we suppose she can be as skinny as she wants.
