This morning we promised you plenty of Cannes-focused red carpet coverage, and now you’ve got it. The film festival kicked off last night with an opening ceremony feted by the stylish likes of Uma Thurman, Salma Hayek, Rachel McAdams, and Fan Bing Bing — all of whom looked stunning and none of whom (in our humble opinion) held a candle to Ines de la Fressange, who wore embellished, flat sandals with her custom Carven gown. But that’s just our opinion. What’s yours?
i LOVE ina! that dress is amazing, and with flats!

I loved Uma’s earrings. The color and clarity of those gorgeous green crystals, paired with the white dress, seemed to speak of summer and Mediterranean waters. Salma looked divine, but that was as much her as the dress. I’m not a big fan of Rachel McAdams’ dress or acting, but I can see how she upped the ante with that dress. I liked Fan’s dress but thought the draping in the back was a tiny bit too much fabric for her- and the hair and makeup felt too heavy (see Uma’s breezy look). That leaves Ina– I’m surprising myself, but I guess by process of elimination she does turn out the best look. Unique yet effortless chic.

Uh, NO . . . Ines does look sloppy!! I’m really sick of people sucking up to the French and saying they have “effortless chic” when, in fact, most of them look pretty awful, especially Ines. Uma is the best dressed, IMO.
