Carey Mulligan’s Vogue Dress Didn’t ‘Go Over Her Arse’

Oh, dear. Carey Mulligan, who stars in the upcoming Wall Street 2, recently snagged the cover of Vogue. For most women, this would be a dream come true. For Mulligan, it came with a catch.

According to Mulligan, the Chanel dress she wears on the cover was one of many samples flown in from Paris — none of which fit.

“The cover dress was very pretty but wouldn’t go over my arse,” she said. “Sample sizes are very, very tiny. I’m actually wearing a towel around my waist and the bottom is clipped up because I couldn’t fit.”

We may be stating the obvious, but, um, what? In lieu of repeating ourselves silly, here are our thoughts, in photo form.

The story is not complete without a pic of the arse/dress in questions. sheeeeeeeeeesh….

She is teeny-tiny indeed. However, it’s likely they thought she was the Audrey Tatou’s size who is teensy-weensy.

    Sizing charts:
    Teesny Weensy = 0
    Teeny Tiny = 2

Personally I am absolutely obese at a size 8.

As usual Karl’s clothes are too small for even a tiny celebrity like Carey, as his own obsession with dieting and weight loss as taken over his life and his design asethetic (can anyone say NOBU?) What is sample size for a dress a Chanel? ( inches please!!!) And having worked in fashion edit at Conde Nast why didn’t anyone just pick up the phone and call her publicist and get her sizes and measurements in the first place? that’s the first thing I always did when we had a celeb shoot.
I’m glad she seems to be unfazed by this but once again it’s a sad day when an actress like CM is basically told she has a fat “arse” bc someone at CNP didn’t do their job and Chanel’s clothes only fit skeletal women.

obese at a size 8? give me a break. Marilyn wore a size 12, which granted, in today’s sizing standards would be closer to an 8, but come on. There is something seriously wrong with our culture that begs women to starve themselves and eliminate the grace and beauty of a woman’s natural body. Only in the 21st century do we see such idealistic and unrealistic expectations for women. Look at any other culture and any other time period’s social expectations for woman’s size and see the difference! Burlesque performers in the late 1800s to early 1900s couldn’t even land a job if they weren’t curvier.
