PHOTOS: Cate Blanchett Gets Sparkly For Louis Vuitton Opening In Rome
Remember the days when a party dress was just a dress you’d wear to actually go and party in and not something you could throw a coat over and head to work in the next day? If you don’t, Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett does — and she wore such a dress to last night’s opening of the new Louis Vuitton store in Rome.
The dress, from Vuitton’s pre-fall 2012 collection, is a gray sheath bedazzled with a big block of golden sequins and features a beguiling system of petticoats (or something) shooting out the bottom of it. It’s classic Blanchett, by which we mean to say it’s something modern and unexpected and delightful and perplexing all that the same time (Remember the Givenchy couture dress she wore to the Oscars last year?). It’s not the prettiest dress in the world, but it doesn’t have to be because it’s just that cool. And we think she’s wearing the mess out of it.
