CFDA Proposes Solution To Fashion Week Scheduling Drama
After a month of radio silence, the CFDA has come up with a plan to solve the fashion week scheduling drama.
At last night’s CFDA board meeting, the board unanimously agreed to propose moving New York Fashion Week back a week next fall, so it would run from Sept. 6-13. London Fashion Week would run Sept. 14-18, followed by Milan and Paris — with no overlap between any of the cities’ dates. However, New York and London will only follow through with this if Milan and Paris agree to make the second-Thursday rule (in which the show season starts on the second Thursdays of September and February) permanent from 2013 on.
We think this sounds like a rather nice compromise! The CFDA has contacted Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana president Mario Boselli about the proposal, which he will discuss with the Italian chamber of fashion at the end of this month. Promising, you guys!
