Chanel Denies Elbaz Rumors: “Not On The Agenda”

Last week, Jak & Jil blogger Tommy Ton published a titillating tweet hinting that he had the inside scoop on some news that would “SHAKE the fashion world.” Naturally, the industry’s rumor mill went into overdrive. (Ourselves included!)

Grazia Australia was the first to speculate that Ton’s tweet alluded to Albert Elbaz as a possible Lagerfeld replacement at Chanel.

But by Monday afternoon, Chanel had stomped out those pesky rumors with a public statement:

“KL is Chanel’s creative director and has a long-term contract that is by no means reassessed. His succession is not on the agenda.”

So what is Ton’s earth-shattering secret? We still don’t know. But the blogger has offered some more hints in the meantime. Monday, Ton added:

You think u know but u have NO idea. Sorry, it isn’t my place to announce this news. You’ll know exactly what I’m talking about soon.

And then, a few minutes later:

Here’s a clue: view the Style.com Paris videos and see if you can figure it out. Tehehehe :P

Dying? So are we. But there shouldn’t be much longer to wait. In Ton’s original tweet, he specified that the news would be revealed in “the next two day.” By our calculations, Ton’s news is now about five days late.
