WATCH: Chanel’s New Campaign Video Is Out And It’s Creepy
If anyone can use shaky cam, blood pressure-raising music, and voodoo dolls to successfully hawk thousand-dollar dresses, it’s Karl Lagerfeld.
After showing a dystopian couture défilé earlier today, The Kaiser’s continuing the dark theme with his pre-fall campaign video — and starring in the five-minute short himself as a yarn figurine. (He has a speaking part, too.)
The film, titled Women Only, is like the fashioniest of slasher flicks, with spooky, whispery noises, a speakeasy-cum-movie-theater, two cronies who share conspiratorial glances, and top models Cara Delevingne, Edie Campbell, Julia Nobis, Kati Nescher, Soo Joo Park, and Xiao Wen Ju playing the extremely well-turned-out (potential) victims.
We don’t quite get what Karl was going for here (we’ll have to ask him at our next Choupette-petting sesh), but we do know that gorgeous girls in gorgeous clothes getting into trouble is a formula that works — just ask ol’ Alfred Hitchcock.
