Charlize Theron Has Words For Grown Women Who Wear Hello Kitty

In yet another quotable moment that solidifies Charlize Theron‘s place as the most high five-worthy actress of the year, she recently told the audience at Friday’s TimesTalk panel that Hello Kitty merchandise poses some serious problems for women over the age of thirty.

“I’m pretty amazed by Hello Kitty. I see so many women in their 30s walking around in Hello Kitty sh-t and nobody is concerned for them,” Theron said. “It’s the one iconic teenage symbol that seems okay for women in their 30s? The world seems to not have an issue with it.”

For context, in preparing for her emotionally stunted character in Young Adult, she had the costume department get her some Hello Kitty tees, stat.

Well, la-dee-DAH, snob. In the geek world, people never grow up, and we’re fine with that. I have plenty of “cartoon” shirts, and nobody looks at me like an emotionally-stunted child. They just say, “Hey! Cute shirt.”

Ugh, I just saw Young Adult and while she was good, the movie was about as good as me sporting a Hello Kitty shirt.  Free Netflix material at best…
