Christopher Kane Makes The Best Get Well Soon Gift Ever
Today in things that will make you go, awwwwww, British designer Christopher Kane revealed that his latest genius accessory wasn’t even a planned part of a collection. Instead, the neon colored clutches that are all the current rage started out as a kind of get well soon gift for his little sister, Tammy.
The story, which Kane told to British Vogue, goes that last year when Tammy was under the weather, Christopher took scraps from the laser-cut leather he used in his spring/summer 2011 collection and made her a clutch. She loved them so much that he made them in three additional colorways for her as a Christmas gift. But they didn’t go on sale until a few fashion heavyweights saw them and wanted them for their own.
“When she wore the orange neon one to the Vogue Fashion Fund celebratory evening, she got such a warm reaction from guests. Then Net-A-Porter asked us to produce them for them. They actually go with almost every outfit, they are so great and always cheer me up.”
A purse that could lift someone out of sickness and that goes with every outfit? Now that’s something we’d love to get our hands on. (And if you’ve got $530 laying around, you can, too.)
