Claire McCaskill’s Daughters: The Breakout Style Stars Of This Election

Claire McCaskill won her re-election bid for Missouri’s U.S. senate seat last night, beating out opponent Todd Akin, he of the now-infamous “legitimate rape” comments. It was a victory celebrated nationwide, meaning our eyes were accordingly glued to the screen when she made her acceptance remarks, and we couldn’t help but notice two other smiling blondes in the frame: McCaskill’s two super stylish daughters.

According to the Senator’s Wikipedia page, their names are Maddie and Lily and, yep, they’re definitely our new political girl crushes. Let’s break down the reasons, shall we?

Daughter #1: The milkmaid braids! The contrasting collar and cuffs! The red lips! She’s definitely got a blonde Alexa Chung thing going on, and we like it.

Daughter #2: The sleeveless, below-the-knee silhouette is Michelle Obama-approved, and we love the contrasting belt. You can only see it in the full-length shot, but the pleated skirt is also a total win.

Between Karlie Kloss, Derek Blasberg, and now these two, we’re starting to wonder if there’s something in the water in St. Louis.
