Coco Rocha Opens Up About Her Faith As A Jehovah’s Witness

Religion doesn’t get too much air time in the fashion industry unless we’re talking, say, Kate Moss in a nun’s habit or Riccardo Tisci‘s penchant for Catholic imagery. But in the newest issue of Du Jour, Coco Rocha gives a frank account of her experience as a Jehovah’s Witness in an arena where few, if any, share her faith:

“There aren’t many Witnesses who are in the public eye. I can’t even name any. So, yeah, it’s hard sometimes when you’re here alone. You’re not there with someone who can hold your hand and say we’ll do this together.”

The model also addresses the religion’s oft-ridiculed practice of door-to-door preaching, which Rocha says she herself does weekly to help spread the faith. “Some people think we’re a pushy religion,” she tells the magazine, “but if you’re not interested, just say so.” Something tells us people might have a harder time saying “no” to Coco than most.

Jehovah’s Witnesses go door to door with a false Gospel (Gal.1:8) they teach Jesus ‘return’ or his ‘invisible’ second coming October 1914.
Anyone that questions the teachings of Jehovah’s Witnesses will be labeled an “opposer” and a heretic or apostate by the members. Then the extreme shunning and isolation of that person will follow. Even family members will refuse to speak to the person. Some have even committed suicide as a result.

This very high controlled followers must lie to prospective new converts offering them a ‘Bible Study” which turns out to be only a lifetime of religious publications and books studies from the Watchtower presses.

Also be aware this religion quickly introduces Matthew 10:34-35 to interested people…“Think not that I came to send peace on the earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law”

When family and friends show concern at the direction their loved one is going this verse at that point is well driven into new Watchtower followers thinking. The result being that they begin to tune out their family.

This is a very destructive group and The Watchtower will do everything to discourage investigation of their history and beliefs outside of the Watchtower resources.

Sadly, neither one of these statements are true. If you truly would like to know what Jehovah’s Witnesses teachings are, please visit their website at jw.org. If someone wanted to know something about you, wouldn’t you want them to ask you directly instead of someone else who may not have the correct information?

In the main, JW’s can be nice people.
But they are entrapped into that Organization by the simple word ‘SOON’, which for the last 130 years has been used by their Governing Body in every publication to indicate the onslaught of Armageddon to be followed by a Paradise Earth.
Every prophecy fortelling Armageddon has failed, 1914, 1925, 1940, 1975, but members cling on to the hope. How sad! And woe betide any member who questions any of the teachings (which are always changing according to the latest ‘new light’ ).

Those questioners will be disfellowshipped and cast aside by family members and friends.
A happy people?? They live in fear of upsetting their leaders

I was taken to the Kingdom Hall as a 5year old. Being a Jehovah’s Witness was the worst aspect of my childhood. Their God Jehovah is a fantasy creation of a thoroughly warped imagination. He is set to murder the greater part of humanity for the crime of not following the diktats of a self appointed and self righteous bunch of control freaks in Brooklyn who make the ridiculous claim that they are God’s sole earthly representatives, that Jehovah;s Witnesses are the world’s only Christians and that the rest of Christendom is in Satan’s power. Jehovah’s Witnesses are a thoroughly nasty little cult and I look forward to their demise.

We ex Jehovah’s WItnesses know about Jehovah’s Witness teachings. That is why we are ex Jehovah’s Witnesses. More people should know about their murderous and ever changing diktats on blood transfusion, their 2 witness paedophile protection policy, their shunning, their duff prophecies, their early racism and their discouragement of education. The Watchtower Society is a blight upon mankind. There is no evidence to support their leader’s claim, and the sole justification for their authority, that they are the ‘Faithful and Discreet Slave’ as referred to by Jesus in Matt. 24. and a mountain of evidence to demonstrate that the Jehovah’s Witnesses are nothing more than a global publishing and property corporation that exploits a gullible crowd of unpaid followers who, by buying the outfit’s mags, enhance the organisation’s capital value.

She turns me on….I think the Elders need to talk to her to dress in a MUCH less provacative manner. I can see her flat boobies!

Sadly, JW’s will say anything to defend Mother Org. The typical rank and file would be publicly reproved for wearing “inappropriate attire”. When I was a JW I was taken in the “back room” more than once and told I was unduly bringing attention to myself. The higher up’s tolerate celebrities breaking the rules because they think it gives them good publicity. Prince, Michael Jackson and others have gotten away with what would cause any typical JW to lose their family over. It makes me sick when celebrities tout The Watchtower as a “good” religion. It’s evil to it’s core. As one who grew up in it and lost all my family because of it, I have zero respect for someone who would paint it as just another religion. People don’t ostracize them for going door to door, they ostracize them for harboring pedophiles and throwing their children into the street who don’t agree. They ostracise them for teaching children that God is going to kill everyone who isn’t a Jehovah’s Witness in a violent bloodbath.

JW’s are NOT the only religion that goes door to door, despite their insular thinking.

Wow…I never seen so much copying & pasting of lies against the representatives of true Christianity or the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. First off, our teachings are based in the Bible. One person mentioned the often repeated and lies such as ” their murderous and ever changing diktats on blood transfusion, their 2 witness paedophile protection policy, their shunning, their duff prophecies, their early racism and their discouragement of education.” Acts 24:14, 15, 28, 29 says we must abstain from blood in the same way Christians must abstain from fornication and idolatry. It’s interesting that one argues against one dying for their faith, while many (including thousands of 18-YO’s) have died for their country in wars supported by Churches. At the same time, they ignore the fact that thanks to the Witnesses non-blood surgical procedures have become more common and both Witnesses and non-Witnesses have benefit from that.
“Duff prophesies”, I presume he means the so-called false predictions (eg. 1914, 1918, 1925, 1975) that are mentioned every now and then by anti-Witnesses and others. The fact is that Russell said and wrote that he does not have the gift prophecy and the he may be wrong regarding everything that he believes may occur in 1914. He even went so far as to say that while 1914 may mark the End of the Gentiles, that it may take another 100 or more before Armageddon comes. Rutherford said that 1925 may not necessarily mean the resurrection will occur. And the Watchtower never taught that the end WILL come in 1975. As the Oct. 1968 issue of the Awake! said, “no man can say” when the end will be. Martin Luther, numerous popes, the founder of Methodism, pentecostals, evangelicals, Billy Graham, and others have made actual predictions of the end of the world. But you never hear that from the Anti-Witnesses. And more importantly, some of those groups, unlike the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, believed they had the gift of prophecy, like the Pentecostal and some Evangelical groups, or that they were infallible, like the popes, and their predictions proved to be false. Those are what I call geniune false prophets.

The so-called “2 witness pedophile protection rule” – not as clear cut as you think. The Witnesses are the only group which openly announces the name and severely disciplines anyone who has abused a child in the congregation. In most cases they are disfellowshipped, and the congregation will not protect such an individual from prosecution by secular authorities. Unlike the Catholic or the Southern Baptist Convention, and other churches, one who is an elder (equivalent of a priest or pastor in a church) will be immediately removed from his position. We are not like the Catholic church which for years transferred practicing pedophile priest from parish to parish. One will be removed from that position even if he or she denies abusing a child. And if later evidence comes to light, such as DNA evidence, proving that one abused a child, he or she will be immediately expelled from the congregation. Due to the Witnesses strong policy against pedophiles, the occurrence of that happening in their congregations is considerably less than other churches that basically do nothing and just forgive the abuser. Even Sandusky is still a member in his Methodist church.
The so-called “early racism” among Witnesses was practically non-existant among the Witnesses. Russell best friend, for instance, was black. Witnesses are known, since the very beginning, to be a congregation welcoming people of all races and have never advocated segregated congregations, unlike most churches in the US, some of which are still segarated today.
With regard to education – true they do not encourage people to go to college, but then again it is not forbidden. It is actually left up to an individual to decide whether or not he or she wants to pursue a higher education. Many Witnesses have. Some have become surgeons, specializing in blood-less surgery techniques; some have become teachers, accountants, lawyers, etc. The decision of whether one wants to pursue a higher an education is left up to the individual Christian. There are even some Witnesses that teach in universities and colleges as adjunct professors or associate professors, etc. I know of 2 who teach NT Greek and one who taught history. Many Witnesses do have a Bachelors degree, although alot more have an Associates degree.

Even if you have one false prophecy, scripture says you are false prophet. God ensures that what you say doesn’t come true to show the world the truth about you. To ignore God and continue to follow Brooklyn, shows how the organization has managed to deceive people to keep following them. After the failed 1975 prophecy many left. One who questioned all that was told, “Well, if you can find a better organization, go joint it.” That person eventually stayed with them, taking that bait. “We’re ‘better.’” Pride keeps them. Funny, after a failed late 1800s prophecy their leadership was quoted saying the same thing.
