Who’s Going To Lead The Conde Nast Fashion School?
Conde Nast produces some of the best fashion magazines in the world, so why can’t it produce some of the best fashion in the world, too? That seems to be the goal of the newly announced Conde Nast International School of Fashion and Design.
Or maybe the goal is just to create more consumer touch points. Who knows? At any rate, the school will be based in London, alongside Central St. Martins and the London College of Fashion. We’re guessing getting in to the school will be harder than getting selected as a Conde Nast summer intern (which we hear is harder than getting into West Point). But the school is still in a conceptual phase, and the company is currently looking for a director to get its undergraduate and graduate programs off the ground.
But whoever the director is, can you imagine how awesome the guest lecturers will be? Even the building names will be chic. Hamish Bowles will probably end up teaching a pro-seminar on Balenciaga in Wintour College, and we can see Katie Grand hosting a series of discussions about the importance of directional pieces outdoors in Nardoza’s Quadrangle. For lunch, students will venture to Fairchild House, where nary a piece of garlic (or any pesky trans fats) will be found.
It’ll be a little while before the school is actually an extant institution, but we’re guessing the prestige of the Conde Nast brand will fast track it to success. It just needs a director first.
