WATCH: Courtney Love’s Cartoon Is All About Karl Lagerfeld

Courtney Love‘s style transformation from tongue-in-cheek rocker kitschy over-the-top red carpet glamour has never failed to amaze or confuse us. And in what seems like an attempt to explain it all, Love worked with artist Michael Mouris to create “The Dark Night of the Soul,” a cartoon that follows her metamorphosis. The six-minute film tracks Love’s life from kooky clothes to meetings with Karl Lagerfeld and André Leon Tally to Birkin-ownership and beyond.

It’s autobiographical while still maintaining the sense of wonder and glamour that you can only get in fiction — after all, no one just wakes up with an unwrapped Hermes bag on their coverlet. Still, all of the meetings, locations, names and faces are accurate, and Love told WWD that as much as it’s about her life, the cartoon wouldn’t be the same without the superstar cameos:

“I don’t know if Karl has seen this,” Love said, “But it’s about him in so many ways,” she said.
