Cristina Cuomo Named Editor-In-Chief Of Manhattan Magazine
Publishing veteran Cristina Cuomo was named editor-in-chief of Manhattan magazine today.
Manhattan is published by luxury magazine conglomerate Modern Luxury, which owns 40 titles nationwide. Cuomo is the former editor-in-chief of both Gotham and Hamptons magazines, as well as the wife of television journalist Chris Cuomo and the sister-in-law of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The press release also stated that James Aguiar, a Bergdorf Goodman and Nina Ricci alum, would be joining Modern Luxury as its national fashion director.
These are just a few of the many changes that are shaking up the luxury magazine business, despite the economy. Peter Davis, former editor-in-chief of uber-exclusive magazine Avenue, recently launched Scene, a younger, hipper society magazine funded by Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump‘s real estate mogul husband. Niche Media Holdings founder Jason Binn and Gilt Groupe have also teamed up to put a new luxury magazine and (corresponding iPad version, natch) called Du Jour on the stands this fall.
