Assistants Leave Balmain As Decarnin Rumors Mount
Though we still aren’t sure exactly why Christophe Decarnin skipped out on his Balmain show last week, things don’t look good over at the revered fashion house. Rumors of an alleged nervous breakdown have not been squashed, but Balmain also has yet to make an official statement. People are definitely freaking out though, as an exodus of assistants has already taken place.
No assistants and no head designer? Yikes. Alas, let the replacement speculation begin! Based on absolutely no grounds whatsover, we would like to throw our support behind Kanye. Yes, Kanye! Why? First of all, he clearly loves the brand and gets Decarnin’s aesthetic — he even asked him to design costumes for his upcoming tour! Secondly, he’s supposedly headed to fashion school over at Central Saint Martins. Why not cut out the middle step, save a few bucks on tuition and just head up Balmain already? Plus, we think he could totally design a $25,000 dress that appears on at least seven magazine covers, if not more.
Okay, so clearly we’re kidding. But still: Kanye West for Balmain!
