Crystal Renn: Those Photos Were Retouched!

We were all shocked and confused when photos of a svelte Crystal Renn posing for Fashion For Passion’s newest tees surfaced. Was this photoshopped? Or did Crystal in fact lose a ton of weight, despite all of the media hype surrounding the increasingly popular plus-size model’s campaign for diversity in the industry?

After the photos spread, Renn’s agent at Ford confirmed that she still maintained a healthy size 10, but the damage was done. People were talking. Finally, in hopes of setting the record straight, the model sat down with Glamour.

“Well, I was shocked. When I saw the pictures, I think I was silent for a good five minutes, staring with my mouth open. I don’t know what was done to those photos or who did it, but they look retouched to me. And listen, everybody retouches, but don’t make me into something I’m not.”

The photographer, Nicholas Routzen, defended his images, claiming that Crystal’s waiflike appearance is only a result of the camera’s angle. The images were “…taken from a higher angle with a wider lens. I shaped her…I did nothing that I wouldn’t do to anyone. I’m paid to make women look beautiful.”

Well, here are the original photos — untouched. And we think she looks beautiful in those too. So there.

First, a size 10 being large would be on someone who is 5 feet tall! Secondly, the news never specifies is this size 10 for JUNIORS or MISSES. HUGE difference! She is beautiful BEFORE the photochopping! Why is it necessary that models be so thin that there is no muscle definition, the bones are visible? That is “sexy” and/or “attractive?”
