Is 17-Year-Old Dakota Fanning Too Young For The Cover Of Cosmo?

Maybe you can help us decide whether or not we’re OK with this. Dakota Fanning, who is a 17-year-old girl despite how mature and adult she seems in all those movies she’s starred in alongside Oscar winning actors and whatnot, is on the February cover of Cosmopolitan, a magazine best known for giving you new ways to please your man every month.

We’re not saying that Fanning should be treated like a child just because she can’t buy cigarettes yet, but putting her on newsstands all over the country with her face next to the text “His Best Sex Ever” is just a touch too nonchalant for our taste. In the eyes of the law, Fanning is still underage, and putting her in league with the full-grown sex symbols who normally cover this magazine sort of makes it seem like she’s reached her prime before she’s even reached her prime. (We’re also not sure such a young ingenue will make a connection with Cosmo‘s reader base, but that’s sort of neither here nor there.)

Still, we’re sure Fanning wouldn’t have agreed to this cover — or to any of her very grown up film roles — if she couldn’t handle it, and the image of her is on the cover is pretty. Check it out and tell us how you feel about it.

If i could book a magazine cover I would. The article about her is not sexual.

She is a young adult, who has done provacative work and is not doubt trying to transition into more adult roles. As long as she remains fully clothed and is not sexually provacative in the interview I don’t think the cover is a problem. I’m curious how you feel about older, adult actresses apearing on the cover of magazines like Seventeen and Teen Vogue among others. Off the top of my head I can recall Alexa Chung, 29yrs old, Katie Perry,29yrs old and whose work is sexually provocative and Lucy Hale who plays a teenager involved with a much older teacher and Blake Lively who is 25 and whose character has slept with many men including a teacher and a married man. It just seems that we can’t have it both ways.

Bridget Hall was appearing on the cover of Cosmopolitan and modeling for Victoria’s Secret when she was 17/18. The only thing that’s risqué about Dakota’s cover is the sex article prominently featured near her head.

Big fah king deal, It makes me sick the federal case today’s people make about this stuff. Before long all girl’s will be required to ware burkas and black dresses. This country is slipping back to the dark ages at an exponential rate and mean while the rest of the world is leaving us behind in the dust and laughing at us.
