Dakota Laughs Off Her Banned Marc Jacobs Fragrance Ad
Back in 2011, Marc Jacobs caused a hullaballoo with his Oh, Lola! fragrance ad featuring Dakota Fanning, which was banned in the UK for “sexualizing a child“. Thus far, Fanning hasn’t weighed in on the decision — until Glamour‘s March issue.
In the fragrance ad, Fanning sits on a floor with her dress hiked up to the middle of the thighs, while holding a big bottle of Oh, Lola! between her legs. The ads are definitely suggestive, but we’ve seen worse. Fanning, who stars in the upcoming Very Good Girls, covers the mag’s March issue in a cute Mickey Mouse sweater by none other than Jacobs, and laughs off the whole fragrance situation in the interview:
“Yeah, I was [excited]! If you want to read something into a perfume bottle, then I guess you can. But it’s also like, ‘Why are you making it about that, you creep?’ I love Marc and trust him, and we just laughed about it.”
Basically: “Our ad got banned? Hahahahah! Whatever.”
As for the rest of the interview, Fanning spills that she wouldn’t rule out a future in fashion design, even though she doesn’t really have a passion for it, and that she admires her sister’s style. Well, duh, have you seen Elle?
