WATCH: Daphne Guinness Getting Ready For The Met Gala

We don’t know exactly when Daphne Guinness decided to get ready for the Met Gala in a window at Barneys, but we sure are glad she did. Last night we nipped out of work a little early to watch the fashion icon prep for the ball in front of a small crowd of fashion lovers. It was ethereal and kind of creepy to watch, but at the end of it, we felt a lot closer to Guinness than we ever had before.

Guinness stepped into the window a few minutes after 5 and began snaking her way across a lucite vanity, wearing what we can only describe as a very sparkly body suit. Then she glided on some serious McQueen platforms behind an opaque screen, where she waved and undulated for a little while before changing into one of those spectacularly feathered dresses created by Sarah Burton. And then she left in a Mercedes Benz convertible.

We were mystified and speechless the entire time, but we heard someone standing behind us say, “I waited two hours for that?” What side of the fascinating line do you fall on? Watch the video of the event from our friends at New York Magazine below and tell us what you think.

I didn’t quite get the point of her doing this. As much as I adore Daphne Guinness this seemed like a media stunt moonlighting as a performance art piece.

I HAVE TO AGREE THIS MEDIA STUNT DIDNT ATTRACT MUCH ON WATCHERS AND WAS A BIT DISAPPOINTING! I EXPECTED SOMETHING MORE DRAMATIC. BUT SHE WAS GORGOUS IN BOTH OUTFITS!
