Glamour Accidentally Publishes Picture Of The Late Daul Kim

Almost three years after her death, Glamour printed a picture of the late model Daul Kim in its August issue.

Fashionista received a tip that the mag had featured the 20-year-old South Korean model in its “52 Ways to Wear Your Jeans” story (pictured below, leftmost model), and confirmed that the girl is indeed Kim. Two and a half years ago, Kim hanged herself after dealing with depression and struggling with her rise to fame.

Editor in chief Cindi Leive explains:

“Our longtime backstage photographer Mark Leibowitz took this picture, which we’d always loved and wanted to use -– we had no idea about the backstory, and are heartbroken to learn this news.”

Apparently, everyone at Glamour forgot about the story that dominated headlines for days. At the time of her death, Kim was booking major campaigns and served as Karl Lagerfeld‘s muse, so she was far from being a nobody. All in, it’s just incredibly unfortunate that no one checked the photo credits.

Take a look at Glamour‘s mistake below. What do you think?

There’s no way they couldn’t have known the back story! Who does their research? Very bad move.

What difference does it make if she’s dead or alive? They’re just showing people how to wear denim…

  • Nova

“incredibly unfortunate”??? Nothing wrong with using the picture, in fact, might be a good opportunity to do s little education about mental health problems and how to deal with them…

  • Castanedagus

They should have mentioned her in a good light ” we remember Kim and have fond memories of how great she looked in anything she wore ” would suffice!!!

It’s really bad reporting to use a picture from two years ago to illustrate NEW ways to wear your jeans! SMH
