David Yurman Accuses Kate Moss Of Copying His Campaign
Kate Moss‘ campaign images for her collaboration with French jewelry designer Fred recently hit the web and now one of her former clients is accusing her of knocking them off. David Yurman, for whom Kate Moss has shot a myriad of ads, told Page Six that Moss’ Fred images are “embarrassingly similar” to their 2011 campaign with the model.

“The Fred campaign is embarrassingly similar to the one David Yurman ran a year ago,” a Yurman rep told Page Six. “When you are a leader in your category, you get used to people copying you. We are confident consumers know the difference.”
While Page Six noted that the “only marked difference between the promotions are that Moss’ small tattoo of an anchor on her right forearm is plainly visible in the Fred images, but is either covered by jewelry or airbrushed out of the Yurman ad,” we can’t help but point out a few more glaring differences.
Fred’s ads are in color and shot by photographer Sonia Sieff, while Yurman’s ads are in black and white and shot by almost unmistakably iconic photographer Peter Lindbergh.

And, apologies for stating the obvious, the jewelry is completely different.
That said, it’s clear the overall feel and framing of the images are indeed very similar — and this isn’t the first time Moss has been accused of knocking off items for her own line. Moss’ Topshop collection was almost immediately under fire for looking like nothing other than knockoffs of items from her own closet.
