Football Player Arrested For Refusing To Pull Up Saggy Pants On Airplane

Add this to your packing list: a belt.

University of New Mexico football player DeShon Marman refused to pull up his saggy pants on a US Airways flight from San Francisco to Phoenix last week. Marman (clearly opposed to pulling up his pants) and the flight crew (apparently offended by his lack of a belt) proceeded to engage in an altercation before Marman was arrested for trespassing at the request of the plane’s captain.

Aside from delaying the plane’s departure by an hour, Marman also succeeded in providing an entertaining story for us to discuss! We can’t imagine how “saggy” his pants were to get him kicked off of a plane (“…so low that his genitals were almost showing,” according to attorney Karen Guidotti), but since when has a passenger’s attire prevented a plane from safely flying? Believe us, we’ve seen our fair share of plane passengers sporting outfits that should never be worn out of the house (Crocs, anyone?), but do we think they should be arrested? Only by the fashion police. So Marman, our hearts…and belts…go out to you.

P.S. Someone buy this man a pair of Subs.

Sorry buddy, that was a pathetic attempt at journalism! Or whatever you want to call it. To get respect you earn it. The punk has no respect. And I believe the president of the united states has pretty much voided that whole race card!!! Time to grow up!!!

  • Dickin’s Cider

This styles time has already passed. Except for making it easier for police to catch those who choose to run from them while wearing these baggy pants, they serve no purpose.

I’m interested in te media but I’m deleting this site after reading this click bate crap. Huffington post, Yahoo news, Mediaite and too many sites are like this. And if that’s not reason enough just read this snarky crap.

If you listen to his coach, you find that he knew better; his behavior would never be allowed at school. He was purposefully making a scene, with his pre-programmed shtick, irreverent to the passengers, to those that steered the plane and those who were responsible for all the passengers’ safety. Unfortunately his parents were fully supportive of his “little event” and blamed it on race. When we accept disruptive behavior more extreme behavior is sure to follow.

    That is so ghetto!

at least if he stole your purse ladies you could easily run him down!!

Funny how you can’t respond to Annie Wazer about her last comment.  This story isn’t about fashion but more about a young man who doesn’t have enough respect to others or obvious people in authority to follow the simplest instructions.  He was asked before boarding the flight to pull up his pants, which is what you have to do to toddlers I believe and he couldn’t be bothered to comply.  His arrogant, my desire for attention is more important than the others that had to view his ass in boxers.  If I walk through the airport in my boxers you can bet I will get negative attention and hopefully be arrested.  If he can’t comply with the basic instructions of the airlines, why should he be allowed to fly.  If I were on the plane I would be upset over the delay but I would be the first one to stand up and applaud when he was dragged from the flight.   he should have a hard time getting off that no fly list!!!

Sorry buddy, that was a pathetic and ignorant comment, or whatever you want to call it. I’m unsure how this isn’t journalism as the story was covered by every major news site. To be honest, the race card isn’t even needed here. It’s racial profiling at its finest, so no justification needs to be made. If you want to dispute that fact, then why don’t overweight men and women get kicked off planes when their crack is showing? What about a women who is showing too much cleavage? Maybe they would if they were African-American with dreads. If you want to talk about growing up, the flight crew should be the first ones to take your advice.

I agree Rachael if someone wants to be what they wear, in this case an ass, than they should be allowed too.

  • Rachael

How do you wear an ass? Whether you agree or not about the young man being arrested, you should do some more research (http://overheadbin.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/06/22/6917783-what-will-get-you-kicked-off-us-airways-saggy-pants-or-underpants). In any case, that doesn’t seem to be the intention of the article. From what I get from it is the saggy style is out and really has been for quite some time. I just thought it was rude of Cary to belittle the writer of this article and was merely responding in light of that. I just read some of the writers other work and to be quite frank, it’s probably the best written, most engaging collection of articles on this site. Well done Annie!

Evidently his behavior is OK in San Francisco, which is where the plane was leaving from.  Not so OK in Phoenix, or anywhere else in the real world, so this was a learning moment for him.  And yes, it is racist when black people as a group have determined that all rules and laws do *not* apply to them, and they can do whatever they damned well please.  I love counting the jaywalkers downtown in my local big city, and wish the on-looking cops would ticket them at best, or that they’d become squished ex-African Americans at worst.

  • Mphsrick43

Typical left wing spin. He was NOT arrested for not pulling up his pants. He was arrested for not leaving the plane when he was asked to do so. He violated the airline’s dress policy, they asked him to abide by the policy or leave the plane. He was charged with a simple misdemeanor when he very easily could have been charged under the patriot act with a felony.

The guy “Howard” can wear underwear, but this Deshon guy is getting harassed? Give me a break, it always comes back to race.

  • respect and peace

not race, Im answering because Green Day couldnt board the plane for same reason..sorry, Im mature now…but you are in your underwear..your pants are someware down there…no one wants to see it…its disprespectful and nasty and a health risk…yes they find some and they miss some…let it go…just get respectuful…love and respect…peace…
