Diane von Furstenberg Says No To Plastic Surgery
After an incompetent skiier broke Diane von Furstenberg‘s nose a few weeks ago, it was feared that she might heal in time for New York Fashion Week. But the designer showed up at the tents, telling reporters that she was more concerned about the possibility of living life with someone else’s face than not watching her own show.
Gatecrasher writes that Von Furstenberg’s accident only strengthened her resolve never to have any work done to her face. Initially, doctors told her that she would have to have “complete facial reconstruction” done, but it turned out that she didn’t need to go to such drastic lengths. And Von Furstenberg says that’s a relief.
“I don’t want anybody else’s face. I don’t want a younger face,” she says. “I just want my old face back.”
But it might be a while before Von Furstenberg’s face is back to normal. She still has a bruised eye, and her broken nose and a fractured cheekbone. She’s hoping the damage won’t show when she’s all healed up.
When she is finally healed, the designer says her face “will not be rejuvenated. It will be the old face.” That, she concludes, “is the best we can hope for.”
We think the old face is beautiful, and wish Von Furstenberg a full and speedy recovery.
