Dolce & Gabbana May Be Forced To Pay Fine For Tax Fraud
Just in time to spook us Americans for our stateside April 15 doomsday, the Italian Revenue Agency has ultimately decided to levy the serious multimillion dollar fine against designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce, for allegedly failing to accurately report their company earnings and omitting relevant information from their tax statements.
Dolce & Gabbana has denied the accusations, but it’s not the first time the fashion house’s accounting has been called into question. An April 2011 probe was ultimately abandoned, but this latest fine comes after a separate dismissal was overturned by the Italian supreme court, WWD reports.
If the company doesn’t win its appeal, it will have to fork over $440.2 million, plus interest. That’s a whole lotta dough-lce.
