WATCH: Six-Year-Old Beauty Queen Retires After 300 Wins

Meet Eden Wood. At the ripe young age of six and with 300 wins under her sash, Wood has announced her retirement from the beauty pageant circuit. Wood made a name for herself on the much maligned (though certainly addictive) TLC reality show, “Toddlers & Tiaras” — the show on which one can watch the under-five set model Madonna-esque cone bras, while overbearing stage mothers force their terrified toddlers to get their eyebrows waxed and bleach their teeth.

Good Morning America reports Wood is calling it quits in the hopes of building a mini Eden Wood empire, so far consisting of the Eden Wood Princess Canopy Bed Collection, her very own “Showgirl” action figure, and a memoir titled, Cradle to Crown. She’s already made $1000 from the release of her first single, “Cutie Patootie”, which includes the line “shakin’ my booty.” Of course. Wood’s mother has high hopes for her daughter, telling GMA:

“I think she’s following in the footsteps of some pretty big people who have done pageants, like Oprah Winfrey… Why not see if we can have a hollywood contract or a reality show or whatever… a spot on a Disney program. Why not? It’s the American dream. It’s almost like her destiny.”

Almost.

    Really? This mom is aspiring for her child to be a *reality* show star? She really thinks “wow, we’ve made it!”? A bit (or a LOT) of education would be much better for Eden, and for the rest of us who hope and pray for the day when there are no more toddler girls shaking their rear ends for an audience.

    p.s. Oprah didn’t get to where she was because of a pageant. Let’s get real– the woman is a brilliant marketer and has an amazing head on her shoulders. That’s what got her to the top.

    Note how the mom says; “Why not see if WE can have a hollywood contract or a reality show”.. The emphesis being on WE, but in fact, the mom is meaning, ME, ME, ME, mother of Eden. ”I” want to see if I can have a hollywood contract by exploiting my 6 yr old daughter any way I can..

     Disgusting..

    Wow. The few posters here who disparage while waiting for an opportunity to make something out of their life too. When you weenies do find yourself in the spotlight someday I hope no one bops you over the head for burping too loud in public. Or passing gas in the elevator. Christ Almighty.
