TIME WARP: An Interview With Edie Sedgwick (VIDEO)
There are few fashion stories as tragic as Edie Sedwick’s. She was arguably the first “it girl,” as Andy Warhol’s muse and a regular at The Factory, and her place in history was sealed after her untimely death — which was ruled an accidental overdoes — in 1971, at the age of 28. In 2006, Sienna Miller gave Edie life again, portraying her devestating character in the film Factory Girl.
Edie was fearless in her fashion, mixing mod and vintage and elaborate eye make up a la Twiggy. Her waif-like figure epitomzied all that was fashionable and beautiful in the 60′s.
Here, Edie Sedgwick talks about what it was like to leave her high society background in California for a modeling career in New York, which left her broke and alone. “It’s strange,” Edie says, “Wherever I’ve been, I’ve been quite notorious.”
