Neutrals, Brights, And Prints At Elle‘s Women In Hollywood Celebration
The fashions at Elle‘s Women In Hollywood Celebration last night were quite a treat, and leading ladies like Emma Stone, Cate Blanchett, Sarah Jessica Parker, and more worked the red carpet in some amazing ensembles.
Neutral hues like black, ivory, gray, and champagne may be classic, but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring. Emma Watson looked cute in a Calvin Klein LBD with a mesh neckline that showed off a modest amount of skin, while Elle Fanning went with an all-over sheer frock. The white slip underneath kept the look from going over-the-top, which sadly can’t be said for Lea Michele‘s sparkly and see-through Zimmerman number. Jaime King looked minimalist chic in a sleek white dress, but as much as we love Parker, her gray strapless look fell flat.
On the bright side (pun intended), Stone’s bold pink Valentino dress was perfection, and the houndstooth Salvatore Ferragamo shoes added an unexpected touch. Kristen Wiig undoubtedly made everyone green with envy in an emerald number and cool mustard pumps, while Glee‘s Jayma Mays looked on trend in a cobalt peplum dress. The accessories, however, were a bit too much, especially those multicolored shoes — are they made from strips of ribbon?
No one could hold a candle to Blanchett in busy Proenza Schouler, and just for that, we’ll let those boring black heels slide. The pixelated print stood out in a sea of solids, which is why she totally gets our vote for the night’s best dressed.
