4 Hottest Fashion Collaborations For Spring
There’s nothing like a European magazine to tell you what’s on the cutting edge of fashion. In the March issue of UK Harper’s Bazaar, fashion editors filled us in on four of the hottest new collaborations — and yes, ones that you probably don’t know about yet. We promise, it’s not just a list of who’s next up to work with H&M or Gap.
1. MDLR, Moises de la Renta for Mango
Spanish chain store Mango has teamed up with Oscar de la Renta’s son, up and coming designer Moises, to create limited edition t-shirts. Moises told UK Vogue, “My inspirations for this collection were the traditional romantic themes: from pretty patchworks with summer flowers in sombre colours, such as rose, violet, grey and black, to graphic illusions which combine transparent effects, with shiny gems and adornments in between.”
2. Matthew Williamson for Swarovski
Matthew Williamson’s colorful designs lend themeselves seamlessly to bedazzlement. Teaming up with Swarovski seems like a natural collaboration for the two luxury brands. The gorgeous jewelry created by Williamson for Atelier Swarovski are colorfully vibrant masterpieces (of the Alexis Bittar persuasion), and umistakeably Matthew Williamson.
3. Holly Fulton for Asos.com
British e-commerce site, Asos.com, has chosen designer Holly Fulton to create an affordable collection for their own name brand products. So far, pieces include an art-deco printed skirt, a grey shift dress with the same art-deco print on the sleeves, and a large, bright blue plastic necklace, all of which are an obvious mimic of the geometric-techno-prints Fulton uses in her own line.
4. Camilla Skovgaard for Amanda Wakeley
Camilla Skovgaard, whose spiky soles could very well join Louboutin as the most creative and recognizable branding of a sole in shoe history, has once again joined Amanda Wakeley to create a shoe line to compliment the designer’s Ready To Wear collection. Skovgaard is no stranger to collaborating. According to UK Vogue, she has designed shoes for others’ collections including a three-season stint working with Matthew Williamson. Wakeley said of the shoes, “This is truly a shoe for women designed by a woman. Supremely sexy but utterly comfortable and wearable. I know that I for one will be living in these shoes this summer!”
