Anna Wintour Is Making The Other Vogue EICs Go To FNO In Tokyo
Come November, Japan is going to be overflowing with Vogue editors. Anna Wintour and her counterparts at several international editions of the magazine are headed to Tokyo for its edition of Fashion’s Night Out, which is happening a few months behind schedule. Normally, FNO happens some time in September, but as the Tokyo edition has been delayed by the tsunami, earthquake and near-nuclear fallout that happened in March, Wintour and crew are going to make sure the night is extra fabulous.
Wintour will be accompanied by Franca Sozzani from Vogue Italia, Emmaneulle Alt from Vogue Paris and Alexandra Shulman from British Vogue. They’ll no doubt be greeted warmly by Vogue Nippon‘s head honcho Mitsuko Watanabe and all of her underlings. And we wouldn’t be surprised of Watanabe’s closest Vogue neighbors, Rosalie Huang from Taiwan, Angelica Cheung from China and Priya Tanna from India joined in on the fun, too. Because, you know, emerging markets.
Conde Nast International’s chief Jonathan Newhouse will play chaperone — he’s hosting a dinner for a bevy of fashion industry people on November 4. But while it’s sure to be tons of fun, but the party planners are being careful to exercise a due measure of restraint. Per Women’s Wear Daily:
In a nod to Japan’s efforts to conserve electricity, Tokyo’s FNO will not stretch into the late night hours and the activity — which will likely include a red carpet procession outside Omotesando Hills mall — will be shifted earlier in the day from 2pm through 10pm.
