TIME WARP: Barbie’s First Commercial (From 1959!) Is Super Fashionable
Okay, there are a lot of not nice things we could say about Barbie. Most of them are things we learned about in college, and they shocked and saddened us. But this old school Barbie commercial (the first one ever, in fact!) is awesome as far as the fashion is concerned.
Mattel put out this commercial in 1959. Ignore the song (pleasepleaseplease ignore the song), and instead revel in the CLOTHES. Retro Barbie was decked! Printed suits with fur cuffs, sundresses, evening gowns, that classic black and white swimsuit. Amazing!
