Is Florence Welch Designing A Collection For Topshop?
When she’s done parading around the world wearing nothing but Gucci, Florence Welch is reportedly headed back home to work on an affordable collection of clothing. And what better place to sell that collection that UK-based fast-fashion retailer, Topshop?
According to a story in The Mail On Sunday, the Florence and the Machine front woman and her stylist Aldene Johnson are collaborating on a line of clothes inspired by Welch’s unusual sense of style. Whether they already have a deal worked out with Topshop or if they’re still shopping it around to different stores is unknown, but a source told The Mail that Welch is determined to “follow in the footsteps of Kate Moss.” Moss, of course, designed for Topshop for a number of seasons.
Welch has worked with Topshop before — in 2009 the brand created a series of stage costumes for her. Gucci’s Frida Giannini, for whom the singer serves as muse, created the costumes Welch is wearing on her current tour. But this time around, Welch is apparently keeping her own inspiration to herself.
“Florence wants it to reflect her eclectic, quirky style. She has thousands of unique pieces, everything from vintage gowns to garments she’s been given by Karl Lagerfeld, and would love to work with Aldene to create a line inspired by her wardrobe, like Kate Moss did.”
Most of the time we’re annoyed with celebrities who think their fame gives them the right to put out a clothing line (we’re talking to you, Snooki), but we’d welcome a Florence Welch collection with open arms. She could dress us in her personal style any day of the week.
