  Wow, that may the most pathetic conspiracy theory I’ve heard in a long time. Maybe people are clamoring to clothe Michelle Obama in their latest designs because she happens to be the First Lady, and fewer are interested in Ann Romney because she isn’t. Not to mention that a very LGBT-friendly industry doesn’t have much interest in having their designs associated with the wife of a homophobic, misogynistic politician. That’s pretty terrible publicity, honestly, and in some buyers’ minds it also represents an endorsement of those policies, which could hurt the designer.

  More importantly, though, what about the obvious explanation here? Maybe instead of an invented conspiracy keeping her in “ugly” clothes, the truth is that Ann Romney just wears what she likes to wear or what she deems appropriate. What exactly is wrong with a woman doing that? She doesn’t have to wear anything she doesn’t want to, and she certainly doesn’t have to choose designs she doesn’t like just because certain people think her clothing is ugly. She’s a grown woman who can dress herself, and she probably doesn’t care what other people think about her clothing, because she’s not a middle school girl. As long as her clothing is socially acceptable, I really couldn’t care less. If I saw genitalia, a white hood or swastika, or clothing that otherwise revealed that she has no idea what is normal or appropriate; then I might actually care.
