Garance Dore Moved To NYC For Herself, Not Scott Schuman
Garance Dore and Scott Schuman are a match made in blogging heaven — and it was only a matter of time before one of them moved in with the other. So now that Dore has moved from Paris to a new loft the couple shares in New York’s Greenwich village, will there be a turf war over who gets to photograph the city’s coolest people?
Turns out, probably not. In a new article in The New York Times, Dore said she never really felt at home in Paris, even if her photos and drawings of her stylish friends there are what made her blog so special. Ever since she’s been with Schuman, the powerhouse behind The Sartorialist, she’s been steadily gaining an international readership like the one Schuman has enjoyed for years.
But Dore says she’s not trying to take advantage of her boyfriend’s cachet by moving to New York — even if that cachet has done a lot for her and her site’s popularity. Instead, she’s just doing what she wants to do.
“I don’t make sacrifices,” she said of her move. “There is no, ‘I leave everything for my man.’ I just do things when they make me feel good and they feel right.”
As for which blogger gets to photograph which style stars at fashion week, the two are working as a team. They plan to hit “as many shows as possible” together — and after that, they’re going back to decorate their new apartment. Together. And they don’t plan to fight about it.
