WATCH: These Hi-Tech Dresses Are Activated By Wandering Eyes
What happens when you team up with a robotics designer and construct a dress using super-organza, structured plastic, and glow-in-the-dark-thread? The dress comes to life, like real life.
Montreal-based fashion designer Ying Gao has designed dresses that light up and move on their own thanks to some serious wandering-eye activated technology. “The gaze-activated dresses are embedded with eye-tracking technology that responds to an observer’s gaze by activating tiny motors to move parts of the dresses in mesmerizing patterns,” she explained to Dezeen magazine.
The pieces, which resemble the gelatinous bodies of jellyfish, kind of look like something we’d expect to see on the Man Repeller, but after watching them in action, we have to say we’re impressed. On the other hand, we could totally see them starring in out night terrors.
Watch the dresses come to life, and let us know if you’d wear one of these extraterrestrial confections, or think they’re just a silly mess of photoluminescent thread.
