TIME WARP: Gemini’s Twin, SNL‘s Excellent Destiny’s Child Parody
Let’s take a trip back to the early aughts, okay?
A decade ago, Beyoncé wasn’t Queen B, but rather the standout member of Destiny’s Child. Jimmy Fallon and Carson Daly weren’t late night talk show hosts, but rather Fallon was playing Daly on SNL. MTV cared about music videos, and so did viewers, as evidenced by the stupidly popular TRL. We were in middle school! [Ed note: Speak for yourself.] Things were different!
This is why we were delighted to stumble across a gem from that not-too-distant past. Remember Gemini’s Twin? Saturday Night Live‘s long-running Destiny’s Child parody ruled. The sketches always involved Maya Rudolph and Ana Gasteyer, and a revolving third member (usually the episode’s host). So. Good.
