Jodie Foster To Be First Leading Lady Costumed In Custom Armani Suits
Giorgio Armani has been feeling the love for the ladies recently. Last week he announced designer Stella Jean as the first woman to show at his Armani Teatro showspace during Milan Fashion Week, and now Jodie Foster has become the first leading lady to get outfitted in Armani for a film role.
As part of her initiation into the role of super-wealthy Secretary Delacour in the futuristic sci-fi blockbuster Elysium, the long-time Armani loving Foster will get a wardrobe of custom Armani suits created by the designer in collaboration with costume designer April Ferry. “She’s one of my favorite actresses,” Armani commented, flourishing the verbal bouquet with, “I admire her work, her talent, her life. I’m captivated by how she personifies the world of 2151 while also making my designs utterly timeless.” Your move, Karl Lagerfeld.
Evidently the designer’s extreme patriotism only extends to fashion per se. The designer recently dressed the movie set of American film Paranoia in his Casa Armani line, and has suited up more than a few of our actors for leading roles – including Christian Bale in Batman, Brad Pitt as Enzo Gourlaaaami in Inglourious Basterds and James Franco in 2008’s Camille. And who could forget Richard Gere’s makeover as a high-paid hustler for American Gigolo?
See them all, plus Foster’s silvery Armani suit, below. Elysium hits cinemas Aug. 21.
