Glee Costume Designer Shares Style Spoilers For Gaga Episode

We’re only hours away from Glee’s Lady Gaga episode and in anticipation, we’ve been blasting some of our favorite Fame Monster hits and thumbing through photos of her most memorable fashion moments — of which there are many.

Needless to say, as Glee fanatics and Gaga fans, we’re expecting tonight’s episode to be monumental. And of course, we’re waiting with bated breath to see how the cast will interpret Gaga the Great’s sense of style.

Luckily, InStyle.com snagged an interview with the show’s costume designer Lou Eyrich who talked Gaga and Glee.

“I have great respect for Lady Gaga,” Eyrich told the mag. “This episode is a tribute to her genius. The costumes are not replicas; we wanted it look like the kids made them…Rachel (Lea Michele) wears two outfits. The first inspired by Gaga’s Kermit the Frog dress: She goes through her stuffed animals at home and staples all of them to her dress. The second is like the dress Gaga wore with the big silver mirrored triangle.”

Tina, played by Jenna Ushkowitz, will be wearing a design inspired by the bubble dress Gaga wore at a concert in San Francisco back in March of 2009; Quinn, played by Dianna Agron wears an imitation of Gaga’s Armani orbit dress worn at the Grammy’s; and as for the rest of the cast…well, all we’ll tell you is that it involves the famed lobster hat and a few male Glee clubbers in drag.

We must take this time to say how impressed we’ve been with the show’s increasingly prominent attention to fashion. First we had Sue Sylvester’s ingenious Madonna Vogue music video, then there was Kurt’s homage to Alexander McQueen, and we know we don’t have to mention how well dressed the cast has become off screen. But most importantly, Mr. Schue is in this month’s Vogue!

Tune into Glee tonight to see the intricate dance moves, the handmade costumes, and of course, the musical madness that is Lady Gaga. We can’t wait to see Kurt’s ensembles! We’ll give you one hint though — there’s a certain McQueen shoe involved…
