Gwen Rings In The New Year In Saint Laurent By Hedi Slimane For Vogue
Despite all that hullaballoo over Hedi Slimane‘s debut for Yves Saint Laurent, there’s no doubt that the clothes photograph well. The latest to give the collection its stamp of approval is Vogue, whose January cover features Gwen Stefani in a full Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane ensemble.
Stefani gives her best Vogue face on top of a piano in a gold sequined blazer, white blouse with ruffled sleeves and black bow, and black trousers. The Annie Leibovitz-lensed cover was first leaked on Vogue‘s Instagram signed by Anna Wintour herself, although we’re pretty sure her assistants just did it.
The corresponding interview by Jonathan Van Meter is about Stefani having it all as a mother, wife, designer, and kickass singer. To put her life into perspective, she tells the mag:
“I did my first solo record and went on tour while I was pregnant. I would want to throw up during certain songs. Certain outfits would make me sick. It was torture. I toured until I was four and a half months pregnant, showing. I came home and had Kingston, and when he was eight months old, I went back on the road. I nursed him for fourteen months, so I would literally do my hair and makeup, go back to the bus, nurse him, put him down, and walk out onstage. And I did that for 100 shows.”
Yikes. Check out the cover and part of the spread below, and pick up the January issue on newsstands December 25:
