WATCH: Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals Why She Wore A Cape To The Oscars

It’s the look that keeps on giving. Gwyneth Paltrow’s white cape ensemble at the Oscars last Sunday was such a winner that even Mario Batali had to ask her about it while she chopped mushrooms on today’s edition of The Chew.

While chef and co-host Michael Symon was focused on Paltrow’s knife skills, Batali couldn’t stop gushing about how she was “the only hot chick at the Academy Awards.” And when asked if the cape was her idea, Paltrow explained:

Nope, it was Tom Ford’s idea. I tried on one dress. That was the dress. And I thought it’s a little different but it’s sort of a throwback… I saw a picture of Jackie O in a white dress with a cape and I thought it’s been a while since anyone’s worn a cape, except for Superman.
