Gwyneth Paltrow’s Weird New Exercise Technique
Gwyneth Paltrow is one of those lucky actresses that seems to exist in a space time vacuum. She looks even better now than she did fifteen years ago, when she swept into the Hollywood mainstream with 1998′s Shakespeare in Love, and stole our hearts with that pink Ralph Lauren Oscars gown that people still can’t stop talking about.
But it seems that Paltrow takes the idea of suspension quite literally as well. The 40-year old mother to Apple and Moses keeps her svelte physique by engaging in aerial yoga, a very new agey practice that involves doing traditional poses while wrapped in a fabric cocoon that hangs from the ceiling. Apparently, it’s good for blood flow, and according to Gwyneth, “the moves [feel] constructive without feeling like a chore.”
The actress is no stranger to clean living: she’s a former proponent of a strictly macrobiotic diet, and her food and home website, Goop.com, is chock full of healthy family recipes sourced from sustainable ingredients. Downward Dog in cloth hammocks might look weird, but if Lady Paltrow is any indication of its results, we predict a big upsurge in the aerial yoga clientele.
