PHOTOS: Can We Talk About Hamish Bowles’ McQueen Tuxedo?

Vogue‘s European editor Hamish Bowles is like, the dandiest dandy who ever dandied. Ever. He’s the word dandy personified, and he proved that tonight on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala. Bowles wore a tartan tuxedo complete with an embellished cape and patent leather shoes with beaded tassels at the event, which is chaired by his boss, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. This year’s exhibit honors the designer Alexander McQueen, and while we hear the museum’s exhibit of McQueen’s work is absolutely breathtaking, we can’t think of a better way to celebrate McQueen by wearing one of his designs to the gala that honors him. And Bowles nailed it. Check out his look below, and tell us what you think!

Has the one-shoulder not died yet? The red carpet at the Met Gala is supposed to forecast trends, not celebrate tired ones. See who was in the red @imeanwhat http://bit.ly/j3vze6

It’s like a Scotsman attacked Hamish Bowles with his kimono.
