DVF Channels Mrs. Robinson, Tries To Seduce Prabal
Who’s to say fashion designers don’t enjoy a little role playing every once in a while? For the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Kim Kardashian wasn’t the only one who dressed up like her favorite movie character. The mag also cast some fashion heavyweights in recreations of director Mike Nichols’s most famous flicks.
The Mark Seliger-shot spread pays homage to Nichols (who, by the way, is married to quite a fashionable lady) by having Prabal Gurung‘s Benjamin cozy up to Diane von Furstenberg‘s Mrs. Robinson à la The Graduate, and Winona Ryder and Marc Jacobs have at it as Martha and George from Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa also make an appearance as Working Girl‘s Katharine and Tess.)
The designers were certainly game for the playful shoot. “I got to see Diane undressing. What more could I ask for?” Gurung quipped, while von Furstenberg explained: “I love Prabal. It was so easy to seduce him. He’s adorable.” Jacobs has an even stronger (or shall we say indelible?) tie to the film he helped portray: “I’ve seen the movie about 100 times. I have George and Martha tattooed on my arm.” Talk about method posing!
So, who is more believable — Prabal and Diane, or Winona and Marc? (Also, check out the behind-the-scenes video below!)
